LA label Manimal Vinyl are returning to their worthwhile roots of compiling compilations for good causes with the release of ‘We Were So Turned On: A Tribute To David Bowie’.

The two disc comp of Thin White Duke cover versions is to be released October 11th, with all proceeds going to the Bowie-supported charity War Child, and features 34 takes of his of some his best tracks.

Artists involved include those who’ve been released via Manimal themselves, such Rainbow Arabia, Warpaint and Chairlift, and Duran Duran, Devendra Banhart, A Place To Bury Strangers and Vivian Girls. As far as our ears can hear, the whole record is worth a look in for Exitmusic’s ‘Space Oddity’, which could be filed next to Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realise’.
