On last week’s podcast we played a cover version of Oasis’ ‘Fade Away’ by Ben Cook of Fucked Up and The Bitters. Having turned the track into a no-fi, brattish, garage rattler (under his Young Governor moniker), we challenged Cook to make a whole album of Oasis covers in the same vein; a challenge which he has accepted.

Ben dropped us an email late Friday night (Sept 17th), which read:

Hey!
someone told me to listen your latest podcast!!
i’ve heard your challenge.. i accept it! I will do a full record of oasis covers……….
if you guys want to release it……;)

He also publicly accepted the challenge via his blog noguvnoluv.blogspot.com.

So rest assured that we’ll try our best to make this happen. After all, we did throw down the challenge and Ben was good enough to pick it right up. Plus, the ‘Fade Away’ cover itself – originally for new download comp ‘Young and Research’ from the folk at Tough Love Records – really does suggest that a whole album of Oasis tracks ‘done the Ben Cook way’ would be something well worth hearing.
