It’s been announced that another of London’s truly great independent music venues will close it’s doors at the end of the year.

Until very recently, The Luminaire – found on the Kilburn High Road – was our local live venue, giving us recent gigs from the likes of Blank Dogs, Former Ghosts and Warpaint. But as a statement issued by the venues says, the venue will close it’s doors on December 31st.

It’s been announced that another of London’s truly great independent music venues will close it’s doors at the end of the year.

Until very recently, The Luminaire – found on the Kilburn High Road, London – was our local live venue, giving us recent gigs from the likes of Blank Dogs, Former Ghosts and Warpaint. But as a statement issued by the venues says, the venue will close it’s doors on December 31st.

The Luminaire’s website announced the closure with a note saying: “It’s been a labour of love for a while now, and at this point it makes no sense for us to continue.”

The King’s Head – the pub situated directly below the venue and also owned by the Luminaire – will also close on December 31st.

The owners have said that they plan a few final farewell shows in March 2011 to celebrate what really has been one of the cities best small venues for new and exciting music.
