Nothing about Lou Reed and Metallica’s ‘Lulu’ project has been on the QT, from the record’s announcement to the billboards around town to promote that it’s out now. A modest side project it is not, and now it’s been announced that director Darren Aronofsky will shoot the video for the album’s ‘Iced Honey’.

Nothing about Lou Reed and Metallica‘s ‘Lulu’ project has been on the QT, from the record’s announcement to the billboards around town to promote that it’s out now. A modest side project it is not, and now it’s been announced that director Darren Aronofsky will shoot the video for the album’s ‘Iced Honey’.

Certainly on some levels the pairing of Reed and Aronofsky makes sense – Reed forever fascinated with the darker themes of life, Aronofsky the twisted mind behind not just Black Swan but also Pi and Requiem For A Dream. Where they are at odd is in their consistency. Aronofsky has a pretty flawless creative career to date, Reed does not, and ‘Lulu’, for all its hype, is perhaps the worst record ever made.

Here’s hoping that the Oscar nominated director can breath some kind of class into this otherwise completely pointless, vulgarly overblown vanity project.
