Listen to new single ‘Begging For Your Life/In The City Light’

Florida ex punks Merchandise have signed a deal with 4AD, following more than a year of A+R offers and kind words from every blog in the world.

Interest in the band really started up when the Tampa-based group released ‘Children of Desire’ in 2012, their third album, which was followed by mini LP ‘Totale Nite’ in 2013.

We met the band at Primavera Sound last year, a week after their first ever UK show, at a time when interest from labels was at its height. At that time they weren’t sure whether they wanted to sign a deal at all, not least because it’ll no doubt affect how they distribute their music. Until now, all of their records have been made free to download on the band’s blog. Get em while you can, we say, because a new deal with 4AD will no doubt put a stop to any new music being posted up there.

And speaking of new material, the band’s first release for their new label has been sneaked out today – ‘Begging For Your Life/In The City Light’ is available to download now (from January 15), and will be released on limited 12″ from February 24.
