Featuring Charles Bradley, The War on Drugs, Mark E. Smith, Erol Alkan & Daniel Avery, Rustie, Sylvan Esso, Rustie, Molly Nilsson and more

For the cover feature of out August 2014 edition (in store Saturday 26 July), we met with 65 year old ex-James Brown impersonator Charles Bradley who’s first 63 years on earth – before he was finally discovered by New York label Daptone – were full of more tragedy and pain than any one person deserves. Subsequently, few people are as inspiring as him.

He’s joined by Mark E. Smith, ahead of The Fall’s appearance on the Loud And Quiet stage at this year’s Beacons festival, and Erol Alkan and Daniel Avery, who are in conversation about the art of DJing as they ready themselves for Unknown Croatia in September.

Sub Pop founder Jonathan Poneman is the subject of our Read Head feature this month, and How To Dress Well answers our Getting To Know You questionnaire.

We met The War On Drugs in Brighton, the day before their Glastonbury debut on the Pyramid Stage, electro pop duo Sylvan Esso in London and one-woman should-be-pop factory Molly Nilsson in Berlin. Maximalist Rustie also talked us through his return with second album ‘Green Language’.

That’s just for starters, available at our stockists from Saturday, and here on
