US pysch pop duo announce second, 24-track album with new track and video

Foxygen have been both praised and vilified for their blatant magpie approach to making music, borrowing heavily from The Stones and T-Rex, to Dylan, The Modern Lovers and Arthur Lee and Love, to name just a few. Perhaps more than anyone, though, there’s been something of MGMT about them, in sound, sure, but also in how volatile the duo and their band appear.

Last year, with guitarist Jonathan Rado releasing solo material, and ex-touring member Elizabeth Fey posting blogs about rifts in a band build on contracts rather than friendship, it looked like the group’s 2012 album ‘We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic’ could easily be their last.

Yesterday they announce that they’re back on track, though, with a new 24-track album ready for release on 14 October 2014, via Jagjaguwar. It’s called ‘… And Star Power’, and here’s it’s lead off single and video – ‘How Do You Really’.
