Listen to a 35-minute live recording of Quilt beefing up 2 tracks you might well know, and a couple more that you might not

When Brooklyn-via-Boston quartet Quilt released their second album, ‘Held In Splendor’, earlier this year, their neo-psych was most noticeable for it’s lack of usual, flangy tricks. It’s clean guitars, then, made for something that was genuinely ‘far-out’, whilst the group’s live show grew in heaviness and elongated jams.

To document this evolution, Quilt went into the studio in the Texan desert for a day and played live 4 tracks from the back catalogue. Ahead of their European tour this month (dates below), here is that recording.

Track one is a fluid suite made up of ‘Held In Spendor’ tracks ‘Mary Mountain’ and ‘The World Is Flat’, and ‘As We Follow’ – a song that previously appeared as a B-side to ‘Arctic Shark’. ‘Milo’ – from Quilt’s debut album – then stretches on for 25 minutes into a free-form space jam.
