Melt Yourself Down are performing with no wave legend James Chance at Illuminations next month. They’ve made this mixtape for us in celebration

Making up part of Illuminations‘ live bill this year, prog-jazz collective Melt Yourself Down will perform a special show with no wave saxophonist James Chance at London’s Village Underground on November 5th.

To celebrate this meeting of freeform minds, MYD’s Tom Skinner has complied this exclusive James Chance mix for us, on which he says:

A selection of songs celebrating that hallowed era of post-everything music coming out of New York in the late 70’s and early 80’s… plus a bit of James Brown and Frank Sinatra thrown in for good measure! James Chance was a key figurehead at the forefront of this movement. We met him in New York in March this year and he came and sat in with us for a few songs. I can’t wait to share the stage with him again and have the opportunity to play some of his classic songs with the man himself… James, we salute you!!!

Tickets for the band’s show with Chance are available here.
