Last year Single Mothers – a punk band from London, Ontario, Canada, who, in their own words “broke up in 2009 and have been playing shows ever since” – released their debut album, ‘Negative Qualities’, via Hot Charity: the Brooklyn-based XL-affiliated indie responsible for giving us Willis Earl Beal.

The group are coming over to the UK in May to play festivals The Great Escape and Dot To Dot, and here’s a taster of why it’s worth checking them out if you plan on being at either event.
