The song, ‘A Retelling’, appears on a new EP made in collaboration with the Red Cross, out in March.

Kindness is part of a group of artists who’ve moved to try and do their bit to help with the current Syrian refugee crisis. The track called ‘A Retelling’ is released today – you can do your bit by buying it.

The song itself is taken from a new EP ‘The Long Road’ made in collaboration with the Red Cross which comes out in March. Each song on the release, which also has artists like Robert Plant, Tinariwen and Scroobius Pip on board, is inspired by the real-life experiences of refugees and asylum seekers.

For his track Adam Bainbridge (Kindness) worked closely with Ayman Hirh, a refugee who fled Syria when the fighting broke out in 2012.

Writing about the experience he said: “I’ve seen with my own eyes that anyone’s life can be turned upside down overnight; that expressing an opinion can be enough to make life unliveable in the place you call home, and eventually force you to leave it. So when I was told about the project, I had to be involved. Getting to know Ayman was fantastic and it was a privilege to tell his story via ‘A Retelling’.”
