This ain’t like the Justin Bieber movie.

Have you seen the Katy Perry concert film? Well, this is absolutely nothing like that. It is something very different.

Lord Kesseli And The Drums are a Swiss duo comprising of the bearded multi-instrumentalist Dominik Kesseli and the dreadlocked drummer and producer Michael Gallusser. They’ve made a concert film to go with their debut EP which came out on June 15.

In it, a camera rotates around the band as they perform in a studio, and the 17-minute show is punctuated by a number of theatrical touches. For example, at one point a muscley dude swings what looks like a thurible. There’s a bubbling cauldron of dry ice, and it all ends with some choirboys holding candles. I don’t really know what’s going on, but I think that’s the point.

The music itself is in turns barracking and majestic, influenced they say by the likes of Sigur Ros and Mogwai.

Out on Ikarus Records head over to their Bandcamp to listen to their EP now.

They’re in the in the Autumn, too.
