LISTENING POST

Natasha Khan talks about new LP ‘The Bride’, Brexit and break-dancing – plus, some daft chat about cheese and pineapple on sticks and darkly funny YouTube clips.

It’s wedding season. You may have already drunk Prosecco until it comes out your ears and danced with your mate’s nan this summer – it’s a regular occurrence at this time of year. It’s perfect timing, then, for Bat For Lashes to assume the character of ‘The Bride’ on her new album. Sadly it isn’t one of those happy endings (her husband-to-be dies on the way to the church) that makes it all the more engrossing to hear about. Fresh from playing Glastonbury, and five days after the EU Referendum result, Natasha Khan came into the Loud And Quiet office to share her articulate feelings on both of those subjects, plus the tragic narrative of her latest LP.

Other topics that got covered: Cheese and pineapple on sticks, darkly funny YouTube videos, the fallout from Brexit and break-dancing in a wedding dress. Also, in September, Bat For Lashes headlines the End of the Road festival. We’re hosting her wedding reception after she performs, so we concocted a plan for that too.
