Our series where we hand over the playlist keys to the people who we think are good.

For the latest Mates with Taste guest playlist we head to Montreal, Canada.

Constellation Records started in 1997. Since then, in their own words, they’ve released “four to eight albums per year on LP and CD in quality packaging”.

You’ll recognise the names of many of the artists they’ve released: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Colin Stetson, Do Make Say Think, Ought and Matana Roberts, to name just a handful. While they’ve put music out by artists from all over the world, their focus is still predominantly on the province of Quebec. They’ve helped shape the sound, direction and reputation of Canadian music in the past two decades.

Here’s a selection of the songs that team Constellation are currently enjoying, including some they’re releasing themselves.

Recent guest mixes in the Mates with Taste series have come from London’s Dirty Bingo, Margate’s PRAH, Bristol’s Rocket Recordings, Manchester’s Melodic, London’s Tough Love, California’s Burger Records and Sheffield’s Tye Die Tapes.
