Things To Do Today
words by Stuart Stubbs
The cover of Disco Drive’s second album looks like the corrupt Tweeny has barfed all over Tony Heart’s studio. So ‘Things To Do Today’ was never going to be dull. From Turin, Italy, this boundary-gobbling trio are something of further reading for fans of Foals. Here they don’t always get their experimental disco-house right (‘Grow Up’ is a wasted opportunity of a first impression; dull, slow and irritating) but when they do the likes of ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ will make four-to-the-floor wagon jumpers look even more desperate.

Mike Relm - Spectacles
Let the face furniture of San Fran disco-er Mike Relm fool you. Forget that he’s named his second album after his eyewear.
Vivian Girls - Vivian Girls
One of Vivian Girls is called Kickball Katy. She plays bass even more nonchalantly than your average Valium-scoffing four-stringer.
Plastic Passion - Contrived Imagery
They're saying that punk's dead, y'know? Spiritually, if not physically.
Wetdog - Enterprise Reversal
Had ‘Enterprise Reversal’ been a five track EP of a release its toneless blahs from lead shouter Rivka Gillieron would have still been a struggle to sit through.
