Ameritown
words by Matt Warwick
Eastern Conference Champions. Hmm… Isn’t that a bit like an English band calling themselves Premiership Champions? There’s a good chance footie fans might take these 12 tracks of tired indie-rock to their hearts then. But, after a slow build-up from back with ‘The Box’ early doors, we get a bit of pace and promise. Singer Josh Ostrander’s voice comes on like Sam Herily from the (occasionally) missed Hope Of The States, and much of ‘Ameritown’ – like ‘Noah’ and ‘Yippy Hipster’ - is of near-Premiership quality. 6/10 in stores now

Mike Relm - Spectacles
Let the face furniture of San Fran disco-er Mike Relm fool you. Forget that he’s named his second album after his eyewear.
Vivian Girls - Vivian Girls
One of Vivian Girls is called Kickball Katy. She plays bass even more nonchalantly than your average Valium-scoffing four-stringer.
Plastic Passion - Contrived Imagery
They're saying that punk's dead, y'know? Spiritually, if not physically.
Wetdog - Enterprise Reversal
Had ‘Enterprise Reversal’ been a five track EP of a release its toneless blahs from lead shouter Rivka Gillieron would have still been a struggle to sit through.
