Everyone Into Position
words by Phil Simms
Mancunian rockers are ready to set the world alight with an album laden with treasures.
With this, their follow up to 2003’s acclaimed ‘Effloresce,’ Oceansize renew their journey on the path towards the summit of modern rock superstardom. Opening single ‘Heaven Alive,’ illustrates their superior prowess with soaring choruses, thundering drums and monstrous guitars, recalling Stone Roses at the height of their powers.
The delicate ambient keyboards of ‘Music for a Nurse’, and the moody piano piece ‘Meredith’, are beautifully arranged, change the mood and show you do not always need big riffs to produce powerful music.
The epic ‘Ornament/The Last Wrongs’ is a classic parting shot from a band that is close to the height of their powers.

Mike Relm - Spectacles
Let the face furniture of San Fran disco-er Mike Relm fool you. Forget that he’s named his second album after his eyewear.
Vivian Girls - Vivian Girls
One of Vivian Girls is called Kickball Katy. She plays bass even more nonchalantly than your average Valium-scoffing four-stringer.
Plastic Passion - Contrived Imagery
They're saying that punk's dead, y'know? Spiritually, if not physically.
Wetdog - Enterprise Reversal
Had ‘Enterprise Reversal’ been a five track EP of a release its toneless blahs from lead shouter Rivka Gillieron would have still been a struggle to sit through.
