Future Love Songs
words by Kate Hutchinson
In the wake of the so-called ‘New Cross Scene’, scenesters will be hot under the collar after listening to this slab of hot-potched hipness. Celine Dion may remain unrivalled, but if you like your love dosed with toy synth, it’ll leave you glowing. The crunching distortion over These New Puritans’ ‘I Want To Be Tracy Emin’ is a slab of delicious mod-punk hedonism, whilst standout track ‘The Hypocrite’ oozes sultry, new wave vocals from Theoretical Girl. Ultimately a barrel of laughs, but soon the joke will sadly get old and tired.

Mike Relm - Spectacles
Let the face furniture of San Fran disco-er Mike Relm fool you. Forget that he’s named his second album after his eyewear.
Vivian Girls - Vivian Girls
One of Vivian Girls is called Kickball Katy. She plays bass even more nonchalantly than your average Valium-scoffing four-stringer.
Plastic Passion - Contrived Imagery
They're saying that punk's dead, y'know? Spiritually, if not physically.
Wetdog - Enterprise Reversal
Had ‘Enterprise Reversal’ been a five track EP of a release its toneless blahs from lead shouter Rivka Gillieron would have still been a struggle to sit through.
