Step Out: Razzmatazz, Spain

And the Loud And Quiet travel tip of 2008 is… GO TO BARCELONA! Tie it in with your easyJet over to this year’s Benicàssim. Or with a pilgrimage to seek out fine Catalonian architecture. Or sway Big Dan to go there on his stag. Just find an excuse. And when you’re there, between the al fresco tapas bites and chasing wines, find Razzmatazz: a venue that would cause an exaggerated shrug if it weren’t for the music they DJ. Up in the rafters of the city’s most renowned live venue is a long, thin bar for after-hours drinking and moving. Last month Andy Rourke and his embarrassing haircut were responsible for choosing the old and new indie, but point us in the direction of any non-pretentious club (although we do love those too) that gives you The Beatles’ ‘She Said She Said’ next to MGMT’s ‘Time To Pretend’ and we’ll set up base there.
