< Slagsmålsklubben at Durrr, The End

Swedish electrogeek sextet Slagsmålsklubben appear on stage decked out in bandanas and laminated rabbit necklaces behind a monument of Yamahas and kick off with a beat of happy hardcore proportions.

Brows furrowed in concentration, they work over the synthesizers and buttons while most of the crowd shrieks excitedly, especially the home town contingent. The rest stand coolly, silently gripping their pint glasses. Indifferent? Intrigued?

‘Malmo Beach Night Party’ starts like an impromptu rave next to an ice cream truck. The boys press buttons, bounce, jerk, and step on imaginary pedals in their skinny jeans, thrashing their hair around like Garth from Wayne’s World. The synths shimmer, the melodies quicken. As Slagsmålsklubben deliver the anthemic ‘Sponsored by Destiny’ they execute sprightly zombie dance moves.

It’s candy-flipping (one of the band's many rave slang terms) music rambunctiously scaling electroclash walls. The songs are repetitive in places, but nonetheless grin inducing. Imagine you’re an elf at a dance party in a videogame: that’s Slagsmålsklubben.
