< Cutting Pink With Knives
words by Ross McTaggart

Time Out’s ‘On The Up’ nights are great and if you were brave enough to face the speed, sweat and sarcasm of the Cutting Pink with Knives gig you’ll know why. Cutting’s tunes are a chalk and cheese mix of ’80s synth and blast beats.

Some perplexed faces unable to fathom the cutecore onslaught before them were soon converted by impish frontman Chris Abitbol’s performance. Twisting and weaving his way through the audience and oozing a trail of beer and microphone lead as he went, he took time to hug and waltz with his people who were left grinning in his happy-go-grindcore wake.

The only stitch up is that as a three-piece playing to a backing track they were left short of an encore, but most here would come back for the stage show alone.
