< Thomas Tantrum at Kilburn Luminaire
words by Stuart Stubbs
Fronted by a post-scrubbed Courtney Love – who’s just fixed a whatever and coke from the bar and climbed atop the Luminaire stage – Goatee Beach’s Thomas Tantrum are failing to provoke a reaction from a quarter capacity crowd of idiots. Idiots for that very reason, duh! It is still early evening, but it’s also the first day of British Summer Time and Megan Thomas’ angelic coos are quickly pulling focus from her misleading grunge queen aesthetic (all hoop-topped, sandy-locked and clutching a pastel Fender). Still, neither that, nor the spiky Shout Out Louds-tinged love-pop of her band causes a scene. Like I say, crowd of idiots. Originally appeared in volume 2, issue 1 of Loud & Quiet magazine
