Shut Your Eyes And You’ll Burst Into Flames Split… …but with any luck they’ll release one last bunch of songs, say the band. Our favourite sounding and named Leeds troupe may have announced their split but there’s still hope that they’ve got a few tid bits to offer their fans from beyond the grave.
The underground disco-core punks who released limited singles via Leeds indie label Dance To The Radio remained true to their gang ideals and announced that the band was over due to one member wanting to leave. “We always said if one of us wanted to move on then that would be the end and unfortunately that time has come,” posted the band on their myspace page.
They then went on to mention how “some good friends of ours have agreed to release the last batch of songs we recorded” and hinted at how new bands and off-shoots may be on the horizon.
The full statement reads…
“So we split up. We always said if one of us wanted to move on then that would be the end and unfortunately that time has come. Without the five of us in a room, hammering our influences together, picking over the smallest of details and arguing about genres it just wouldn't be the same.
“I think it is safe to say we are all gutted it didn't work out. We never really got to grips with certain aspects of the music industry and in the end that stopped us from progressing as far as we would have liked.
“Some good friends of ours have offered to release the last batch of songs we recorded – hopefully we'll confirm the details of that soon. Also on the way will be a bunch of new projects and possibly a new band, again more on that later.
“Thanks to everyone that listened, all the bands we played with, all the friends we made along the way – it's been an amazing experience.
