British Sea Power launch flag design competition

First they played at the National History Museum, then at Edinburgh Film Festival, now BSP go more arts and crafts than ever. Following recent single ‘Waving Flags’, lifted from the band’s latest album, ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’, British Sea Power have now asked fans to design their our BSP-themed flags or tents for 2008’s festival season.

In a press release from the band today (June 24, 2008) the below instructions were given…

Instructions:
Design and make your own BSP-inspired festival flag/banner/decorated tent. We realise that guilt-by-association could be an issue, so please feel free to make your design artful and subtle. Though some stealth BSP-relatedness will be to your advantage...

A Flickr photo account will be set up linked to the BSP website. Upload a photo of your tent or banner design - in action at the festivals. All festivals are applicable, not just those where BSP are playing. Keep your eyes peeled - some inspirational starter designs will soon be added to the BSP site. Of course, with Glastonbury looming you’ll have to get your socks on for that one.

All entries should be put on the Flickr account (details to follow) and also emailed, with contact name, number and address, to:

bsp@roughtraderecords.com

The prize-winning flag and/or tent-makers will claim one of the following material rewards:

*A pair of tickets to End Of The Road Festival in Dorset - plus a band-made 3ft x 2ft BSP festival flag.
* A massive 7ft x 5ft BSP band-made festival flag.
* A pair of tickets for the Tan Hill Festival in good auld Yorkshire.
* Miscellaneous BSP goodies

(The first-prize winner has first choice from the above. The second-prize winner then chooses, then the third-prize winner... The fourth-prize winners gets what’s left.)

The closing deadline is midnight Tues 26 August. The winning flags will be chosen by the band and the winners announced on Thurs 28 August.
