Listening Post

It’s been a long time since Part Chimp dished up a sludgey new track like ‘Namekuji’

Eight years in fact since the London sludge rockers put out an album

London outfit Part Chimp regularly get tagged as ‘one of the UK’s loudest bands’ (and they are) but since 2009 they’ve been relatively quiet.

Between their formation in 2000 and 2009 they put out albums and vinyl collaborations with a regular frequency.

Now, 8 years since their last LP ‘Thriller’, they’ve readied a new album, ‘Iv’ and it will come out on Rock Action on 14 April.

The track they’ve just announced their return with, ‘Namekuji’, is doomy but melodic, and basically sounds like the sky is falling in… that kinda feels like something we can all identify with right now.

They’re playing the following shows soon:

Cambridge, Portland Arms – 13 April
Leeds, Wharf Chambers – 14
Glasgow, Stereo – 15
Salford, Far Out Festival – 16
Brighton, Green Door Store – 20
Bristol, Exchange – 21
Liverpool, Wrong festival – 22
London, 100 Club – 28
