Our free gig series at the Shacklewell Arms with EYOE returns

Ft Charlotte Spiral, OneDa and many more

After an excellent run of shows back in January, we’re bringing back our free gig series with our friends Eat Your Own Ears (EYOE), over at one of East London’s finest venues, the Shacklewell Arms. It’ll all be happening between 27 July and 17 August, every Wednesday night. It’s totally free, but it’s always busy, so make sure you can get in by grabbing a free ticket.

Previous instalments of EYOE Recommends have featured acts including Porridge RadioPVA, Rachel Chinouriri, Prima Queen, Human Interest, Drug Store Romeos, and many more, so you’ll almost certainly discover a future favourite at each show.

Here’s a bit detail more on who’s playing this time around.

27 July

Honeymoan: Soulful, genre-hopping alt-pop from South Africa

CVC: Punchy, magpie-like rock, combining elements from across music history

Charlotte Spiral: Sparse, elegant songcraft from an utterly distinctive voice

Gaspar Narby: Intimate, folk-inflected pop from the Swiss artist and producer

3 August

Shelf Lives: Trashy, party-focused post-punk from South London

Platonica Erotica: Noirish, deceptively heavy gothic singer-songwriter

Double Helix: Punk energy meets rave spirit and industrial grit

Hagop Tchaparian: Hyper-personal rhythm music that mixes techno withfield recordings of his travels through Armenian and Mediterranean culture

10 August

OneDa: A truly unique Mancunian MC and grassroots activist

The Queen’s Head: Another shit-hot ensemble from the Speedy Wunderground stable

Special guests TBA

17 August

Secret guests TBA

Civil Partnership: A London-based audiovisual arts collective with a vested interest in DIY methods and prolific output
