Wide Awake festival announces its 2021 lineup: Crack Cloud, Black Midi and loads more

South London's new leftfield music festival is going full steam ahead for a September debut

Wide Awake were meant to launch their first festival in 2020, but we all know what happened there. Never mind: with high hopes that the coming months will see us return to some kind of normality, today they’re announcing their lineup for their 2021 edition, and official debut.

It’s a big bill, and an eclectic one, featuring L&Q favourites like Black Midi and Crack Cloud, two innovative Malian guitar groups in the shape of Tinariwen and Songhoy Blues, electronic heavyweights Daniel Avery and Erol Alkan, and tons more. Everything from indie rock to jazz and techno will be represented on the final lineup; it’s all happening on 3rd September in South London’s Brockwell Park.

“We’re incredibly excited to finally be able to bring this very special show to London this September,” says co-founder Marcus Weedon. “It’s been a tough year for everyone, not least the festival and event industry, and we have been working very hard to ensure Wide Awake is brilliantly curated with the safety of everyone at the forefront. We cannot wait to open our gates and welcome both fans and artists in what is going to be an incredibly special event this year.”
