Win a limited edition Richard Dawson print by artist Jake Blanchard

We have 5 prints of the original The Ruby Cord artwork sketch to giveaway

We’ve got something quite special to give away here – 5 prints of the original sketch of Richard Dawson‘s new album The Ruby Cord.

The record itself is, predictably, one of the most unique sounding from the whole of 2022 – a genuinely epic (the first track is 45 minutes long) adventure through English folk, metal and history that only Dawson can deliver.

But never before has a Richard Dawson record sleeve been as intricate at the music itself.

Illustrated by Todmorden-bassed illustrator Jake Blanchard, the artist told Art Vinyl: “I worked very closely with Richard throughout the whole design process, he had strong ideas about the kind of imagery he wanted but was very open to my suggestions too. Initially Richard sent me the album to listen to. For the front cover it seemed obvious that the focus should be on the epic 41 minute opening track ‘The Hermit’. The song is full of great imagery and the idea of a character wandering this ‘post-apocalyptic’ landscape burdened by the supplies they’d gathered was initially suggested by Richard.”

What you can see at the top of this page is the original line sketch that Blanchard presented to Dawson, which they then worked up to the version you see on the front of the album. And we’ve got 5 limited prints of it (only 150 exist in total), to give away to our readers.
